comic/humor postcards. They feature satirical illustrations typical of
mid-20th-century roadside souvenir shops, joke shops, and vacation
destinations.
Dimensions: Standard vintage postcard size, roughly
5.5 x 3.5 inches.
Current Item Condition: New Old Stock. Postcards are
in great condition and unused. Color and printing are clear and bold. There are
slight stains on the backside of the post cards.
History: These
types of suggestive, gag, or slapstick humor postcards were incredibly popular
from the 1950s through the 1970s. They were mass-produced by commercial
printing companies (such as Tichnor Bros. or Dexter Press) and sold on
revolving wire racks at gas stations, beach boardwalks, and diners across the
United States.
